Resumo

This article discusses the causes of wood-derived biomass self-combustion. We researched technical and academic literature on chemical processes at SENAI CIMATEC. The factors influencing spontaneous combustion are microbial activity, temperature, humidity, and the concentration of O2 and CO2. Fungus and bacteria play a leading role in microbial activity, degrading organic matter and releasing toxic and flammable gases. The temperature is crucial for monitoring this phenomenon.
